✅ What Is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a UK government grant that helps homeowners and small businesses switch from fossil fuel boilers to low-carbon heating systems like heat pumps.


The aim? Reduce your carbon footprint and lower long-term energy costs by moving away from gas, oil, direct electric or LPG boilers.


💸 What’s Available?

You can claim:

  • £7,500 off an air source heat pump

  • £7,500 off a ground source heat pump

  • £5,000 off a biomass boiler (in eligible rural areas)


This grant is paid after installation is complete—but don’t worry, we’ve made the payment process simple and stress-free.


🧾 How the Payment Process Works

At Limitless Energy, we use a phased payment plan to make the grant process transparent and easy:

  1. 25% deposit when you confirm your installation – this is fully insurance protected

  2. 35% payment just before work begins on site

  3. 40% final payment on completion. In most instances, we will have already applied to redeem your BUS voucher and so this is not payable.


Once your system is up and running, we handle everything with Ofgem, who then release the grant directly to us. In most cases, this completely covers your final bill—and you may even get money back, with customer credits ranging from £70 to £2,000, depending on system size. It’s like a clean energy cashback bonus!


🏡 Who’s Eligible?

You're eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme if:

  • You own your home or small business premises in Wales (also eligible for England)

  • You're replacing an oil, gas, direct electric or LPG boiler (a fossil fuel heating system)

  • Your installation is a self-build (it is not eligible if you are a developer and building for re-sale)


🔨 What About Self-Builders?

Great news—self-builds are eligible for the BUS grant!

To qualify:

  • You must own and commission the property for your own use

  • It must not have been built or owned by a developer

  • You’ll need to provide planning documents, funding evidence and a Building Control completion certificate
